Attention LA Lakers:
You won 2 NBA titles in a row!!!!!!!!
You only lost last year due mainly to dead legs and loss of focus which often happens to teams that have had THAT much success. Let us not forget they lost in the NBA finals before winning the 2. So if you count all the extra games, they had a right to finally hit the wall.
So, what do you do? Take it on the chin and regroup for next season?? Or, completely overhaul your roster?
Right now, What the LA Lakers are doing is absolutely nuts. Gave away one of the most versatile players in the league to Dallas, Now talking of trading Pau Gasol AND Andrew Bynum. It makes absolutely zero sense to me. The Lakers won 2 titles and are so dominant, largely in part because of the huge mismatches and size advantage they enjoy on the court. When you can have 2 7 footers and a highly skilled 6-10 guy on the floor at the same time, it is an absolute nightmare for opposing coaches and teams.
So basically, even if they land Dwight Howard, They will have given away their entire front line to acquire him and what does that leave you with? Certainly not a Championship team in my opinion.
People give Kobe and Shaq all the credit for the dominant Laker teams of the early 21st Century, but people over look the fantastic role players that surrounded those 2 guys. What would be left to put around Kobe and Dwight? Kobe also isn't getting any younger and is definitely on the decline of his career, even though he is still a top 5 player.
Unfortunately, LA have already set some type of overhaul in motion, and the ridiculous give a way of Lamar Odom will seal LA's fate.If the LA Clippers acquire Chris Paul, Lakers may fall to number 2 in LA with the moves/decisions they are making.
It'll be interesting to see Lamar Odom play with the Mavs.
