Drew Brees isn't Dan Marino

Drew Brees is a fantastic QB, don't get me wrong but people are being way too prisoner of the moment saying he is better than Dan Marino, just cause he broke Marino's record.

We have to examine the differences in Brees this year and Marino in 84.

1.Brees to this point, has thrown 60 more passes than Marino.. more attempts, more chance at yards
2.Brees has more weapons than Marino: Sproles,Graham,Colston,Meachum,Henderson > Clayton,Duper and Marino's RB Tony Nathan... Who? Exactly
3. Marino played in a much more difficult era defensively. Players could hit the QB, hit the WRs.
4.Brees plays in a spread offense whereas Marino did not. put Marino in today's NFL he'd throw for 6000 yards
5. Marino 48tds 17Int.. Brees 41tds 13ints  pretty close but still 7 more tds for Marino in a different league.
6.only two other QB's threw for at least 4000 yards when Marino broke the record. Currently, after week 17, 10 QB's should break that 4000 yard mark. Which means, Passing has been inflated and much like the HR back in the steroid era, it has become severely devalued. In today's NFL, a player would have to throw for closer to 6000 to equal Marino's feat if you factor in all the above.
7.NFL had no Free Agency. Brees and New Orleans were able to acquire an all world back like Darren Sproles.. whereas Marino had no shot at his teaming getting significantly better.
